Origin
Mr. Wishlist was created around Thanksgiving 2012 as a replacement for Steve Rohl's world-famous Present Pheasant, which had become defunct. It's very much a re-envisioning of its aviary predecessor with a few added features like kids' list management, anonymous questioning, and private discussion.
Under the hood
Mr. Wishlist was built on
Django utilizing Twitter's
Bootstrap frontend toolkit, with the basis for the look courtesy of
Bootswatch. It took about 14 hours to develop the initial version.
Special Thanks
Thanks to my family for being as enthusiastic about wishlists as I am. And thanks to my wife for not murdering me for constantly talking about wishlist site names for 3 days straight.
